Zach's New Home!I would like you to know that Filson, now named Zach, safely made his trip to Boston, arriving Wednesday evening. Though still a bit sedated, he watched the lights and Boston traffic on the drive home. He spent Thanksgiving with a small gathering of friends after a romp in the park along the Neponset River. He played well with the other dogs and the children at the park seemed to love him -- he was intent on watching them play. Though he did not have his clam chowder for Thanksgiving, he seemed content with his turkey and fixings though he was still wanting a piece of pie. Over the weekend, he experienced the crowds on Charles Street and Downtown Crossing in Boston -- there was so much activity -- he also had a run on Boston Common and made a terrier friend. Filson plays well with others. On Sunday, he met with two other entles, Vesta and Patrick, at the Harold Parker State Forest [picture attached] and trekked through the woods and stood at the shore of the glacial ponds. (I take his not venturing to swim as a sign of good sense since the water was quite cool.) Filson also has the voice of a hound dog that carries well over the water. Filson seems to be adjusting to his new home and new neighborhood. He is wonderful when meeting new people, young and old, and curious about the other animals around. I hope that he will be happy. For all of those who have cared for Filson and made his trip and new home possible, we are grateful. Matthew Here is an update on Zach! Zach has been here for 2 1/2 years. He is very much a part of my household and is an enjoyable companion and loved by all who meet him. He has developed quite a circle of canine friends and human admirers at the parks we frequent. Though he is 8 1/2 to 9 years old, he has the heart of a puppy and loves to run with the other dogs. He has not experienced any health problems and is in good condition. Zach has always been well behaved and very much wants to please. We have gone periodically to training classes to brush up on some skills. He has been great with children, adults and other dogs. Though, he came with very little [no toys], he has socialized well and is quite playful. He has a very calm disposition and friendly demeanor. Fortunately, he likes to sleep in on Saturday mornings, too. I was somewhat apprehensive about taking a rescue dog. However, the process turned out to be fairly straightforward. Though there was a question regarding the adoption after it was completed, the NEMDA folks were very supportive and resolved all the issues promptly. Zach has been wonderful. He is an important part of the household and has brought a great deal of joy and affection to everyone. Matthew |
