The National Entlebucher Mountain Dog Association was founded in 1998 and is the parent breed club of the Entlebucher Mountain Dog in North America. NEMDA’s goals are to do everything possible to protect and advance the best interests of the Entlebucher Mountain Dog.
NEMDA’s objectives are to:
- encourage and promote quality in the breeding of the Entlebucher, and do everything possible to bring their natural qualities to perfection.
- protect and maintain Federation Cynologic Internationale (FCI) as the standard of excellence by which the Entlebucher shall be judged.
- to improve the health of the breed by maintaining an open genetics data base which contains health information on Entlebuchers, normal and affected, which is available to breeders and owners upon written request via e-mail or letter.
- educate the public about the nature of the breed and the responsibilities of ownership.
- run a Entlebucher breed rescue.
- do everything possible to protect and advance the best interests of the breed, including encouraging participation and good sporting conduct at dog sports such as dog shows, obedience, herding, agility, search and rescue, and canine good citizen events.
- maintain an internationally recognized registry for purebred Entlebuchers and keep a database of as many Entlebuchers as possible
NEMDA is governed by a Constitution and Bylaws which have been voted on by the Governing Board and Membership.
