We love to BRAG about our Entles!

Tobie

Congratulations to Chocolat Toblerone v. Adhem, Tobie for short, on becoming "Almost Famous"! In January, 2006, a local photographer in Vancouver, BC, Canada was putting together a coffee table book on various breeds of dogs. Edna Bond took Tobie for photographs and as it turns out, K9 Biscuit Company, based out of Vancouver, BC, liked Tobie's picture so much that she is now on the cover of their "Roasted Sweet Potato Wheat-Free Biscuits"!

In addition, Tobie is involved with obedience and has earned two legs of her CKC Companion Dog title with scores of 184.5 and 192 out of a possible 200. She is currently involved in Rally Obedience and enjoying it immensely!

Anna

Teri Beeman of Spokane, WA, and her dancing dog Anna continue to impress judges and the spectators with their fancy footwork in canine freestyle. On March 4th Anna earned a qualifying score and her title with an impressive first place in Beginning Heelwork to Music. She also achieved a leg with a second place in Intermediate Freestyle. On Sunday Anna again earned a first place qualifying score this time toward her Novice Heelwork to Music title. She received a second place qualifying score in Intermediate Freestyle. Dancing with two feet is hard enough! Imagine doing it with FOUR feet!

Bayla

Joyce MacKay of Plover, WI, excitedly reports that Bayla passed the Therapy Dogs International (TDI) testing certification requirements on April 22! Joyce figured that Bayla may have mellowed a bit since she is five now and thought they would "give it a try". She boasts, "We received many positive comments from spectators and TDI members. I am very proud of her! With all Bayla's been through medically, Bay is a miracle dog, an inspiration and has a lot to share with others and she will!" (We couldn't agree more.) In true Entlebucher fashion, while Bayla walked right past a hotdog when asked, "she was obsessed with watching it and knowing where it was as we continued to walk around." Congratulations to you both on this super achievement!

Bayla earned her NADAC Open Weavers title May 6th. She did it in style with a blazing, beautiful 1st place! This has been a proud accomplishment for us!! Bay competes at the Elite Level of all other classes, but Weavers has been our biggest challeng – she weaves great but would not slow down, collect and control herself to hit the entries. She would just run full tilt and start weaving wherever she managed to enter. We've worked specifically on weave pole entry exercises this year – and it's paying off! This title also earns Bayla's NADAC's Open Versatility Award.

In addition to the agility triumph Joyce received notification on June 26th that Bayla was officially accepted into the Therapy Dogs International Program. Joyce adds "Bayla loves people but especially little people, so we're going to find children's therapy programs to participate in. We're starting a program at the Boy's & Girl's Club of Plover & will visit a camp for developmentally disabled kid's July 19th.

Bero

Kudos go to Melissa Gugliotti of Avon, CT, and Braveheart Bombero of Wildhorn, also known as Bero. This speedy canine earned his Flyball Champion Gold on March 5th! Melissa proudly boasts that despite their flyball team having to miss summer tournaments this year due to team injuries and illnesses, "our little Entle is still 'strong like bull!'"

Bronte

Another obedience star who gets a round of applause is Jan Vincent's Bronte of Wildhorn who earned her United Kennel Club Companion Dog title in March at three trials in one weekend. Bronte has also completed the first section of certification for the local Service Dog Association. The "Most Traveled Entlebucher" title for 2006 most likely has been earned by Bronte as she has traveled from Utah to Ohio (twice), Philadephia, San Diego, and most recently Berlin. What a world traveler!

On June 10, Kathleen Kinney's Amira of Wildhorn (Mira) and Jan Vincent's Bronte of Wildhorn were the Entlebucher ambassadors at the Swiss Roots event in Philadephia. Thanks, Kathleen, Jan, Mira and Bronte for being such wonderful representatives for our beloved breed.

Duke

The 4th and 5th Entles attending Wags for Wishes were Duke (Caesar from Balihara Ranch) and Earl (Great Earl of Duke from Adham), owned by Jen and Brian Shaul of La Jolla, CA. Congratulations to Duke for earning his ASCA Companion Dog title that weekend! Also, three big Entle "woofs" of congratulations to Earl who "took to sheep for the first time and passed his herding test with flying colors." Earlier in the Summer, on June 10th and 11th, Duke was in "stellar form" at a USDAA agility show and qualified in an advanced standard run, also earning first, third and fourth placements on various runs!

Enca

Congratulations to new NEMDA member Marianne Brauchi of Victoriaville, QC Canada as she advises that her Entlebucher Enca earned her Canadian Kennel Club Companion Dog Excellent (CDX) title on April 8th. Enca and Marianne earned two qualifying scores in Utility level obedience on June 24 with scores of 192 and 193.5 out of a possible 200. Those great scores deserve another round of applause and woofs! Enca, whose name is derived from EN = ENtlebucher and CA = Canada (where she lives), has been diagnosed with PRA C. At 5 years of age, Enca is still active in obedience, agility, and tracking and Marianne is hoping Enca's eyes stay healthy for many more years. We hope to hear more exciting achievements in the future for Enca.

Eulee

A big congratulations goes out to Melinda Lumpkin of Hayward, CA, and her handsome Entle Eulee of Wildhorn who took home some really big ribbons after attending four International All Breed Canine Association of America – Alle Rasse Gruppe shows in Santa Rosa, CA, on February 11 and 12. On Saturday Eulee received a group 2 win in the second show and continued to "strut his stuff" on Sunday. Showing under a judge from Switzerland, clever Eulee charmed the judge with a paw shake during the examination, eliciting a smile from the judge who said "no tricks in the ring."  After winning in the breed ring, the same judge awarded Eulee a Group 1 placement. Eulee then proceeded to win Best in Show Puppy Reserve in the third event. In the fourth show, a Canadian judge also awarded Eulee Puppy Reserve Best in Show. It was an exciting weekend for this wonderful representative of our Entlebucher family.

Eureka

Kudos to Jan Hill of Lakeside, CA and Eureka who passed her Herding Instinct Test at Wags for Wishes, earning the comments "Excellent! Such super drive!" Earlier in the summer, Jan and Eureka went to Mexico for the FCI International and Mexican Dog shows with great success and Jan boasts that Eureka is now FCI International and Mexican Champion Shoobox Eureka of Hills to Mountains.   Additionally, last November 19, Eureka passed her CGC test with "flying colors." It's nice to have our breed recognized South of the Border as well!

Penny and Bravo

Several Entlebuchers participated in the annual Wags for Wishes events, hosted by the Make a Wish Foundation in San Diego on July 7-9. Alice and Boris Madar, of Sedona, AZ, write "Despite oppressive heat and humidity, Penny and Bravo did beat their pairs racing record from last year's Wags for Wishes flyball tournament. This year, their best time for the two of them racing one after another was 8.963 seconds total." Hurray for these speedy Entles!!!

Alice also admits "Penny also has an ignominious brag. It begins last year, when I made the HUGE mistake of letting her run on the lure course at the end of last year's tournament. After that one experience she became obsessed and became a rabbit chaser (never was before), and flips out when she sees a long line on another dog (thinks it is a lure). So after a day of good racing at Wags this year, Penny suddenly abandoned the flyball course mid-run, blasted through the barrier to the lure course, and began running the course. She didn't do it every race, but she did do it three times on Saturday and Sunday. If another dog was running the lure course, she easily beat it. Nothing could prevent her from getting to the course once she was released on the flyball run – she was too fast. So, with the threat of being banned on our heads, we had to leave the tournament early. And Penny will never see another lure course as long as she lives (if I can possibly prevent it)!

Roebi

John Hirschi of Bermuda and his Entle Roebi continue to race through the agility courses, earning two legs in Novice Jumper with Weaves. At this Bermuda Kennel Club March event, Roebi ran a smashing 16 seconds under course time, earning a score of 100. In the 2nd run, Roebi beat the course time of 42 seconds with a time of 30 seconds and a score of 95. John admits, "Roebi's speed is great, but now, too fast for me. I cannot keep up with him and he's got four legs while I only have two!" Three cheers to you both for these successes!

Shaman

Shaman and I passed our Delta Society Pet Partners Team Evaluation Test on April 22, 2006. This was her renewal test as each team has to retest every 2 years to be eligible for pet therapy activities. There are 20 tests and Shaman got fifteen 2's and 5 1's. There are 3 overall assessment scores, NR (not ready), Predictable, and Complex. To get a complex the handler and the dog must receive all 2's on each test. The first time we took the test 3 years ago we got all 2's but I think Shaman did awesome considering she is half blind and is almost 11 years old and we didn't even practice! The test was held in a nursing home and during the test she wanted to greet the people in the wheel chairs and say Hi to everybody. Her little stump tail was just-a-whirling and people thought that was so cute. — Kathy Marshall
