Pricing and Contracts

NOTE: NEMDA does not get involved in pricing or contracts - this is strictly coordinated by the Code of Ethics Breeders on an individual basis.

The Entlebucher Mountain Dog is considered to be a Rare Breed and this is ultimately reflected in the price.

A Sales Contract is important as it protects both the buyer and the breeder and should outline all that is expected of both parties:

  • Terms of sale
  • Guarantees the breeder offers – i.e. Health Issues, returns
  • Responsibilities expected of the buyer
  • Responsibilities of the Breeder
  • Documentation that will be given
  • If a pet only there will be a spay/neuter clause
  • If for breeding there will be a breeding clause
  • Puppies will be tattooed/microchipped before leaving the breeder
  • Violation of Terms of Sale clause

A contract is a binding document and must be completely understood what the buyer’s responsibilities will be and those of the breeder at the time of signing

One of the most important aspects of the Sales Contract is the Guarantees – ensure that you understand exactly what they are and what they include.  Remember to ask questions for clarification.

No Breeder can guarantee that a puppy will grow up to be a perfect specimen with no health issues. They can only insure:

  • that all ethical breeding practices have been adhered to
  • health and genetic issues closely followed
  • pups have been kept in a healthy and socialized environment
  • shots have been administered on time
  • tattoo/microchip has been done
  • documentation is complete
