AKC PARENT BREED CLUB FOR THE ENTLEBUCHER MOUNTAIN DOG

Registry

On January 1, 2010, The National Entlebucher Mountain Dog Association (NEMDA®) Registry transferred the United States Entlebucher Pedigree responsibility to the American Kennel Club (AKC) . All United States breeders must use the AKC  to enroll their litters and individual dogs. Eligible Entlebuchers within the United States will receive an AKC Registration Certificate. All breeders in Canada must use the Canadian Kennel Club to enroll their litters and individual dogs. Eligible Entlebuchers in Canada will receive CKC Registration. The AKC and CKC have mutual pedigree recognition.

NEMDA BCOE Breeders must submit proof of AKC or CKC litter Registration to the Breeding Committee with the yearly BCOE report. In addition, the NEMDA BCOE requires that ALL BCOE breeders submit a Litter Database Application directly to the Registry/ Database.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

The NEMDA Registry was established in October of 1999 adhering to the strict guidelines of due diligence used by the internationally recognized FCI Registries. Because of the strict pedigree protocols, in October 2001, the NEMDA Registry was officially recognized by the Canadian Ministry of Agriculture and the Canadian Kennel Club as a Recognized Foreign Stud Book. This enabled all dogs with NEMDA Pedigree Registration to be recognized not only by the CKC, but by all other international FCI Registries who recognized CKC affiliates. This enabled our members to travel and breed overseas.

The Registry has played an integral role in the NEMDA club's work towards full American Kennel Club recognition. The number of NEMDA Registered Entlebuchers with documented four generation pedigrees enabled the club to fulfill the AKC's Foundation Stock Service (FSS) requirement for application into the Miscellaneous class, the next step in full recognition into Herding. As of December 2008, all Registered Entlebuchers within the NEMDA Registry have been enrolled into the FSS. These were directly transferred. As of January 2011, all eligible Entlebuchers should and must receive an AKC Registration Certificate.

The NEMDA Registry will continue to serve the NEMDA club in a modified role. The Registry will serve as the data collection point for Entlebucher litters within North America. The litter data will be entered into a comprehensive database to serve as the foundation of NEMDA's open health testing and breeding database. NEMDA members have access to the database via the NEMDA website.
